Not sure that I want to go back and read the others though. This book held my attention, couldn't put it down. In it, a crooked innkeeper, his suffering wife, some smugglers, the queen's dragons, our heroes, and a lousy magician all converge on an inn during the worst storm of the year. Great effort by this writer. Several times, a character whom I wanted to like (a hero figure in the novel) did something that was ridiculously stupid and out of character, solely so that the author could move the plot in a direction that he wanted, or manipulate the reader's emotions in a shameless manner.
